Replacement Lexus Keys
So what is rekey? This is the process of altering the ignition barrel’s key formula or pattern so that the Lost Keys won’t work any longer with the car. Remember this is not reprogramming, that will come later after the rekey process. What really is the difference between the two? Read on to know...
Rekey in details
You will need your Lexus ignition cylinder rekeyed when either you have replaced the ignition barrel or you want it to use the same keys you’ve been using before. Or, when you have lost your car keys and have altered the ignition configuration’s to avoid the chances of the lost key being used to operate your car again.
Now, if your Lexus is using transponder chip keys, of which that is most likely the case, there will need to be some reprogramming of both the car and the keys after the rekey.
So how much time will all these take?
Okay, the job might sound involving and time consuming but that is not the case practically. With our auto locksmith Lexus, the whole task should not take 30 minutes after the technician begins unscrewing the first screw. See? The service can be that fast.
